I love a fable. Many years ago I studied Chaucer, and enjoyed the tale of Chauntecleer the proud, vain cockerel / rooster who is flattered by a fox, closing his eyes and extending his neck to show off his voice and is promptly captured. Luckily the fox is just as stupidly proud and opens his mouth to taunt those chasing him and so inadvertently allows the cockerel to escape. The moral of the tale: pride before a fall - with an inflated ego you will come-a-cropper! Anyway, painting this colourful rooster reminded me of the tale.
GreyPepperArt I am a Kent artist, happiest in the garden wielding a watering can or sketch pad, and can spend hours watching my family's pets (including, cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, honey bees and geese) and other beasties, and enjoy trying to capture their antics in paint. I love animals, they lift my spirit and make me smile, and I hope to evoke this enchantment in my watercolours. My technique is 'wet in wet', laying colour on wet paper, in the hopes of happy accidents and a flowing piece of art that brings to life the lively animals I paint. And, branching out, I’m also sometimes painting using Polychromos Coloured Pencils to achieve fine detail). Please contact me direct for a similar commission (from £35). Facebook: ...
