Description
German Shepherd Dog, or Alsation Dog. When I was a child I loved but was terrified of dogs, having to cross the road if I saw one heading in my direction. That is, until my parents invited round a man with a failed police dog. He had failed because of his kind, sweet temperament and the fact that he would only ever attack a policeman in uniform. By the end of the afternoon I was holding a hoop up for him to jump through and he gave me a ride on his back. I've adored dogs ever since...
This portrait is painted using Faber & Castell Polychromos pencils on hot-pressed watercolour paper, and was part of a tutorial from the Bonny Snowdon Academy, drawn from a fabulous photograph by Rudd Van Unen.
